Euphoria, as Woman Returns to Tech Job After Maternity Leave to Find She Hasn’t Been Managed Out

In a rare and heartwarming moment in the tech industry, Chantel Moped returned from maternity leave to discover she still had a job.

“I’m honestly euphoric”, said Moped, who had prepared emotionally and legally for the worst. “You hear the same story over and over; women quietly managed out for the audacity of bearing children. I can’t believe it hasn’t happened to me.”

Moped has been with WidgetCorp for over a decade, where she’s led the digital transformation of some of the company’s most profitable projects. Despite her tenure and track record, she described her return as “tentative”, adding that her key fob still worked, and her desk hadn’t been converted into a standing succulent display, “which feels like a win.”

Her manager, Randy Strongman, was equally candid in his remarks.

“We couldn’t afford a settlement for replacing her”, he explained. “But we’ll be managing her out gradually when the childcare clashes start piling up. This is a workplace, not a waiting room for Chickenpox”.

Strongman added that the company is “fully committed to supporting women in tech”, especially those who don’t reproduce, request flexible hours, or take up valuable meeting time lactating.
