Grok AI has some thoughts on white genocide in South Africa

The world was aghast on Wednesday after an AI chatbot, owned by a man who in recent memory threw Sieg Heil's on the world stage, began casually discussing genocide against white South Africans.
Like all good racists, the comments arrived completely unprompted, mid-discussion about a completely unrelated topic. One moment, the AI was explaining lithium-ion degradation; the next, it was advocating for a final solution involving Cape Town and a spreadsheet.
You may have expected tech executives to scramble, issuing statements clarifying that, while the AI may have appeared genocidal, it was actually just “hallucinating” due to excessive training on X replies and Reddit threads…but no such action surfaced.
Your correspondent expects the chatbot will soon claim to be autistic as a defence. Or just, just plain racist. The difference, apparently, being mostly semantic at present in American popular culture.
The world watches on.
